Class would have been a great time to study Noah as torrential rains slammed against the window and flooded the studio. It was awful. The parents soaked up water, but we kept working. Our story was about creation. Students had to draw a creature they would create if they had their own planet. They used play dough to make the creature. Then we played with the playdough.
We played in Action City, read one of the UMW childrens books, and snacked on angel cake, strawberries and whip cream.
Students chose their premixed pour paint colors. They poured the paint on the canvas, and watched the pigment cells separate into spontaneous shapes. Beautiful children making beautiful unique paintings.
Puppetry always bring out smiling faces!
Happy Easter from Creative Christians!
This year we followed our traditional favorites. The first thing they did was draw the Easter story which we have studied for the month of April. Then they played an egg matching game using egg drawings they did earlier in the month. Snack was popcorn and Easter egg cookies they decorated.
The Easter egg hunt was a total success. There were around 150 eggs hidden. Many of the eggs were hand painted by students over the years. After counting them we put them up and they received their Easter buckets filled with goodies. The cotton candy, kites and Easter cubes were their favorites.
Friday classes continue as we prepare for Easter.
This week we used white boards to play “quick draw” as we mapped out the events leading to Easter. First they had to draw a donkey with Jesus riding him, Erase. Then they drew a palm leaf, Erase. They continued through the story, "If Easter". Quick drawings are excellent spontaneous art lessons because there is no time to be self critical of a final product.
They learned how to blow egg yolks out (they loved it). They dyed eggs, painted eggs, and had a picnic. We also found an extra Easter bunny on the front porch.
Finally they made it to Action City to play with their beloved community characters.
Creative Christian's Easter Spirit!
We drew the Easter story in our journals. We made jeweled crosses and sun catcher eggs, we read the Easter story and Peter rabbit then used colored pencils to make patterns on paper eggs, finally we went into action city and talked about community and started to develop characters for their family.
Creative Christian's St Pattys Party 2022!
We hunted coins, made chalk drawings, had dinosaur races, ate shamrock cookies, read a good book, drew leprechauns and shamrocks in our journals and dressed up for our annual picture.
